John Roesch is a legendary Foley artist with over 45 years of experience in the film industry. He has worked on countless movies, commercials, and video games. His credits include ET, Empire Strikes Back, Toy Story, Marvel's Avengers, The Lion King, Back to the Future, The Matrix, Interstellar, Halo 5: Guardians, and hundreds more. As John loves to put it, there are more astronauts on earth than there are working Foley artists.
John always had his eyes set on Hollywood. However, he wanted to be an actor or director rather than a Foley artist. In the mid-1970s, John Roesch earned a degree in filmmaking from New York University. It was only by happenstance that John got involved in Foley when he did the work for a friend's film. “Boy, what a stupid job,” Roesch thought to himself as he started his life-long career. Incidentally, his apartment manager was award-winning Foley artist Joan Rowe. She offered him work as her partner at Gomillion Sound and the rest is history.
Today, John Roesch is the co-founder of Audible Bandwidth Productions which produces films, television shows and live foley demonstrations. He is also one of the most sought-after keynote speakers in the world sharing his stories and excitement from behind the scenes in Hollywood for client and employee engagement programs today. His audiences learn how to find the fun in everyday life, recognize what their passions are, and learn about what has gone into making the sound in (virtually) every movie or video game they've ever experienced.
"John’s presentation was absolutely captivating. He brought the magic of Hollywood directly to our team, demonstrating how attention to detail and creativity can transform an ordinary project into something extraordinary. His energy and passion for storytelling are truly contagious!"
"Having John speak at our event was a highlight for our entire team. He has a rare gift for taking complex, highly technical processes and making them accessible, fun, and deeply relevant to everyday life and business motivation."
"John Roesch is a master storyteller. His insights into the entertainment industry and the art of Foley opened our eyes to the invisible elements that make a production great. Our audience left feeling inspired, entertained, and ready to tackle their own creative challenges with a new perspective."
"The live Foley demonstration by John was an unforgettable experience. He combines deep industry expertise with a fantastic stage presence that keeps everyone engaged from start to finish. He truly shows you how to find the 'fun' in what you do."
