Rooted in social justice, D'Lo (he/they) brings the fierce with the funny through his stories and stand-up comedy about being a queer/trans person of color raised within an immigrant family and community, as well as his stories about being an artist who was schooled by hip-hop, feminists and queer artist elders.
Whether in person or in virtual presentations, D'Lo engages your employees, students, audiences in stories that further thought and dialogue, thus serving as a great opportunity to build community within your workplace. With almost 20 years of teaching in writing and performance, D'Lo has also extensively given lectures and keynotes on the intersections of art and social change and civic engagement.
Within the last year, we have dealt with waves of Covid deaths, on top of the global racial reckonings and the continuing war on Black lives, uprisings, the rise in anti-Asian hate and more. D’Lo’s post-show talkbacks also provide space for people to share their experiences as both marginalized or allies and the struggle to build bridges with other communities.
His tv/film credits include co-starring in the HBO series LOOKING, on the Amazon series TRANSPARENT and the Netflix series SENSE 8 and MR. ROBOT. His work has been published and/or written about in academic journals, literary anthologies, and print/online journalism sources, such as The Guardian, NBC, CNN and The Advocate. He is also the creator of the “Coming Out, Coming Home” writing workshop series which has taken place nationally with queer people/immigrants of color. Currently, D’Lo is a Senior Civic Media Fellow through USC's Annenberg Innovation Lab funded via the MacArthur Foundation.
