Strat House’s client, a leading organization within the health technology space, is convening a select group of leaders, innovators, and stakeholders for an upcoming Healthcare Summit designed to explore the future of care, human performance, and innovation across the industry.
Set against the backdrop of Sonoma, this gathering is intended to be both thought-provoking and energizing—bringing together voices that can challenge perspectives, inspire action, and ground the conversation in the human realities behind healthcare. The program will feature intimate, fireside-style conversations, creating space for authentic storytelling, reflection, and meaningful dialogue.
Following a successful previous year that featured talent such as Apolo Ohno and Joe Montana, the goal is to curate speakers who can deliver a similar level of presence and impact—individuals who bring not only credibility, but a compelling personal narrative that resonates with a healthcare audience navigating complexity, change, and opportunity.
At its core, this event is about bridging innovation with humanity—highlighting the people, stories, and experiences that shape the future of healthcare.
Justin Wren is a former UFC heavyweight fighter turned global humanitarian whose life story is one of resilience, reinvention, and purpose-driven impact. After rising to prominence in mixed martial arts, Justin faced personal battles with addiction, depression, and identity—ultimately leading him to a transformative experience living among the Mbuti Pygmy people in the Congo and Uganda.
That experience reshaped his life and mission. Today, Justin is the founder of Fight for the Forgotten, a nonprofit that has helped provide clean water to more than 52,000 people, secured land rights for indigenous communities, and freed over 1,800 individuals from modern-day slavery. His work spans healthcare access, sustainable development, and human dignity at a global scale.
A three-time malaria survivor and Black Belt Magazine Hall of Fame inductee, Justin brings a rare combination of elite performance, lived adversity, and humanitarian leadership. His keynotes are deeply human, emotionally powerful, and grounded in real-world impact.
“Justin’s message of perseverance, fighting for what you believe in & incredible resilience was truly a game changer for our program, our founders, and for me personally. No matter the industry or where you are in life, everyone can learn from this incredible human. I cannot recommend Justin highly enough. 10/10!” - Daniel Weigand, Cofounder, Draper Inc.
“I didn’t expect an MMA Fighter to have me in tears. I guarantee every human will leave changed for the better having heard The Big Pygmy’s talk.” - Jason Cox, YPO President

Justin’s story directly intersects with global health, access to care, and the human realities behind healthcare systems. His work with underserved communities—providing clean water, fighting disease, and building sustainable health infrastructure—offers a powerful, human-centered lens on healthcare beyond traditional systems. For a health tech audience, he brings a grounding reminder: innovation matters most when it reaches those who need it most. His story delivers both emotional resonance and a broader perspective on healthcare equity, impact, and purpose.
In Justin’s breakout keynote, he shares his personal story from humble beginnings in rural Texas and a childhood shaped by relentless bullying. He eventually rose to mixed martial arts stardom, fighting in front of thousands in person and millions around the world, only to lose it all to drugs and depression. But he fought back again, first on behalf of other victims of bullying, and later, through an almost unbelievable turn of events, on behalf of the Pygmy people of the Congo and Uganda. A three-time survivor of malaria, Justin has fought opponents both large and small throughout his life, and along the way he has evolved into astonishing force for good in the world.
Justin takes audiences through an exploration of the power of service, the profound difference we can make in the lives of others, and the ripple effect that extends far beyond what we can imagine – including the transformation that occurs within ourselves when we choose to live purposefully and serve selflessly. He also unravels the secrets of the Overcomer’s mindset, the unyielding spirit that separates the victors from the defeated. Audiences will learn how to transform pain into fuel, setbacks into comebacks, and doubts into unwavering belief—in order to overcome obstacles and win this fight called life.
Over the last 25 years, Andrew McMahon has successfully experienced musical rebirth many times and has consistently arrived on the other side stronger than ever. A child prodigy who was born and raised on the East Coast before moving to Southern California as a teenager, McMahon began stunning classmates and teachers with his ability to connect through song at an early age.
By 1998, he co-founded the pop-punk outfit Something Corporate while in high school, serving as singer, pianist, and songwriter, and leading the band to major chart success in the early 2000s with Leaving Through the Window and North. Soon after, McMahon resurfaced in 2005 with the deeply personal solo project Jack’s Mannequin, releasing three acclaimed studio albums, including the Gold-certified Everything In Transit and the two subsequent Billboard Top 10 albums The Glass Passenger and People and Things.
But behind this story of constant evolution lies a deeply personal journey. McMahon’s path was shaped by his very public battle with leukemia at the age of 22. Those challenges not only influenced his songwriting but also inspired the founding of the Dear Jack Foundation in 2006, a nonprofit that supports adolescents and young adults facing cancer. His survival and continued creativity are also chronicled in the documentary “Dear Jack” and his searingly honest 2021 memoir Three Pianos, which blends personal storytelling with original music scored by McMahon himself.
Through it all, McMahon has found solace and hope in the things that matter most: his family and the one instrument he’s always turned to, his piano. He has built a career on resilience, reinvention, and the healing power of music, creating a body of work that continues to inspire others as much as it has sustained him.
“Andrew's bravery to take on risk when others tread in place is an eye-opener. But his determination to dive into uncomfortable waters to grow as an artist has resonance for all. By sharing his truly inspirational story through his insights, motivations, and methods, he explains how anyone can figure their own path to do what they really want. No matter your line of work or stage of your career, this is an important reminder that we're on this planet for a very short time. He teaches us how to get out of our own way so we can appreciate the past, but more importantly, make the most of our future. It's a life-changing lesson, charmingly told.”- AUDREY FIX SCHAEFER, HEAD OF COMMUNICATIONS, I.M.P./9:30 CLUB
“Andrew is one of the most inspiring guest speakers that has ever met with our team. He has lived an extraordinary life, which has provided him with unique insights about reinvention, fear, and change that are relatable, and thought-provoking.” - Charlie Walker, President, C3 Presents
